The typical chain of events in the imposition of socialism (government control of society):
With the help of sympathetic media and cultural institutions, things look grand, particularly to the followers who initially imagined, a new world. “Free” stuff with no loss beyond the maligned "rich people’s” assets.
Functions of law and order are rejected as criminals are coddled and the most unproductptive deified as Nobel.
Then, eventual realization occurs that things are actually becoming worse. Small businesses close, unable to adhere to numerous edicts, minimum wage laws, and rent controls. People and companies see the writing on the wall and move away from the “socialist experiment.”
Finally, the minions of the new order direct their anger at anyone not “cooperating" (submitting to) with "the revolution” and begin to enact punishments on anyone not playing along.
Anyone exhibiting independence or degrees of success are attacked as “counter revolutionaries," “fascists,” and, “enemies of the people." If this occurs in a country, the result is widespread destitution, persecution, and execution, as well as laws preventing escape.
In America, so far, one can just move to another state and leave the socialist enterprise to flounder in crime, poverty, and total loss of opportunity and freedom. When the whole nation succumbs to Marx’s toxic formula, the country is screwed…the world is screwed. “Weak” (and stupid) men create hard times.
I thought we had been there and done that?
You’d have to be really brain dead and unaware of history and human nature to not see where this leads.
